Show Do You Want To Know When You Were Born? If you don't know when or where you were born, the government will tell you for a dollar. During the war more than 3,000,000 people obtained proof of citizenship in this way in order to get jobs on restricted projects. Some 50,000,000 Americans don't have birth certificates because be-cause they were born before the states had perfected their registration regis-tration systems. Perhaps you have forgotten, but in it's enumeration every ten years (the last was 19-40),. 19-40),. the census Bureau asks the names, ages, and birthplace of all members of the household. In applying for a search of the records, re-cords, you give your exact address on each census date and the name of the head of the household. Census Cen-sus then goes over its records back to your childhood, and issues you a transcript which is acceptable accept-able for passport, Social Security, and other purposes. Even though the spelling of your name has been changed, Census Cen-sus can usually trace you straight off, as it has 100,000,000 cards representing families, filed by a simple phoetic system. The dollar service takes several weeks, but if you're in a hurry as in the recent case of a sailor whose ship was sailing the day he applied you pay three dollars for extra fast service. |
