The current Aug. 15 price was $3.60 per cwt. higher than a year ago and set a new re- W7dnhjh- ?e Previous record of 1" $27 per cwt., was established m ' r.J Oct 15, 1947, according to the j WJ DROP REPORTED ON STOCK, GRAINS IN AUGUST Utah farmers generally noted a slight decline in prices receiving during the month ended Aug. 15, according to a report released Thursday by the bureau of agricultural agri-cultural economics. Contributing to the decline were lower prices for grains and certain livestock. Lower grain prices were due partly to seasonal fluctuations following harvest of the 1948 crops. Sharpest break in grain prices occured in barley which was 25 cents per bushel lower than the preceeding month. Oats dropped 16 cents and wheat was off 13c per bushel from a month earlier. The current wheat price is only slightly lower than a year ago when the average price received by the farmers was $1 91 per bushel. bu-shel. Other grain prices also are somewhat below a year ago.
