Show STUFFING GIVES FRANKFURTERS A LOOK OF FALL Come fall, it's time to look for more autumn-like ways to serve food. So it is with frankfurters, when fall brings a renewed desire to serve them often. A good idea for "franks" throughout the fall and winter is to serve them stuffed, says Reba Staggs, food authority. That way you can add varity beyond the usual us-ual "red hots" . and barbecued frankfurter "quail," with its stuffing stuf-fing of cheese and wrapping of bacon. But try some of these for a change in stuffing, and see how they perk up menus: 1. Sauerkraut : 2. Pickle relish ' 3. Mashed potatoes and chopped j onion or chive ' ' 4. Swiss or smoky cheese with chopped green pepper. 5. Sliced dill pickle 6. Grated pineapple 7. Grated raw carrot and peanuts 8. Chopped ripe olives and pecans Cut a slit in one side of the frankfurters, fr-ankfurters, not quite through the end. Place the stuffing in this slit then broil or bake until the stuffing stuf-fing is cooked and the frankfurter heated through. |
