Herald Photographer Makes Cooking A V Business The Herald today presents the first of several good cooks whose talents are expended not only for the benefit of their family and friends but for the public who enjoys en-joys "eating out." Bill Kapp combines his business ability with good things to eat and as a result has built up a profitable prof-itable and successful business enterprise. en-terprise. Folks like' to eat at Kapps not only because the food is good but the management is efficient and a homey atmosphere prevails. Among the thing's Kapp likes to serve is Blueberry pie for which he uses the following recipe: BLUEBERRY PIE 1 cups blueberries y2 cup sugar IVi cups water Juice of y2 lemon 1 tablespoon butter Dash of salt Mix all together and heat to the boiling point, then stir in two level tablespoonfuls cornstarch. Mix to a smooth consistency. Put into a 10-inch pie shell. Cover with top crust and bake in hot oven. PIE CRUST Makes Four 10-inch, Pies 2 heaping cups lard Sifter and a half of flour 2 cups water Salt Mix together and kneed lightly. Roll out and line pie tins. There are lots of other v things Kapp likes to serve also and important among these are his barbecued- beef And pork sandwiches. Only recently has he started the serving of these items and the manner in which they are literally devoured is proof of approval by his customers. Sometime we might get the recipe for these sandwiches but to date it is a secret. We only know they are specially good. |
