Show GENEVA ATTRACTS MANY BACKERS ON RATE ISSUE More than 400 telgrams from all over the west have been received by the Interstate Commerce Commission Com-mission protesting suspension of the proposed railroad rates on iron and steel from Geneva to the Pacific Pa-cific coast, including messages from the two Utah senators, it was reported Wednesday. Through all these protests runs the thought that any reduction in Geneva rates will contribute to the benefit of the consumers of fabricators fabri-cators of steel, as explained last week by Benjamin Fairless, president presi-dent of the U. S. Steel Corp. The commission has also received re-ceived additional briefs from the Los Angeles, San Francisco and Portland chambers of commerce, and from the Western States council. coun-cil. The data must be checked by the suspension board of the ICC and referred to the full commission commis-sion in time for a decision not later than Friday midnight. |
