Show HJtes Leave For Grid ' Battle Friday; Play Washington Team University of Utah Redskins, some 40 strong, will leave Salt Lake City Friday for Seattle where they open the 1949 football season against the University of Washington Wash-ington Huskies, Sept. 17. Backed by only 13 days of practice, prac-tice, the Utes will enter the game as definite underdogs to the rejuvenated re-juvenated coast eleven. The loss of 16 lettermen will also hurt the Crimson and White chances in the game. Both elevens tied Oregon State last year, but the juggled line-ups of the two teams leaves Utah at the mercy of the larger, -deeper Washingtonians.. Head Coach Ike Armstrong who begins his 25th year at Utah this fall has been most concerned a-bout a-bout filling gaps at end, center and quarterback since he lost three All-Conference flankmen last season, sea-son, plus two centers and a brilliant bril-liant signal calling passer. Utah's band and Dr. A. Ray Ol-pin, Ol-pin, president of the university, will be present at the grid tussel. |
