Horses Arrive For Spring Acres Race Meet May 28-31 Imported Stallion From Australia Valued at $25,000 At Stables; Public Invited To See Daily Workouts Over 125 thoroughbred" race horses from California Co orado Arizona, Nevada, Wyoming, Idaho and Utah will be stabled at the Spring Acres race track within the next week, prior to the opening of the big race meet May 28, 29 and 31, according to Richard Oakley, Spring Acres race manager. To handle the large number of horses that will be here for the meet, 50 , new, stalls are being erected at the Irack.. Workouts are being held daily between 6 and 9 a.m. which the public is welcome to see, prior to the meet. Outstanding Horses Listed Some of the outstanding thoroughbreds thor-oughbreds already lined up and at the Spring Acres stalls are High Kisses, Tidy Step, Pat L. (Belito Roe) Don'D., Water Power, Roy Cram, Gayle F., Timothy T., Fairy Time. Timpanogos and Nebo Chief, owned by Dr. Stuart of Payson, are coming from Phoenix, Ariz., to compete with the above mentioned men-tioned racers in the Governor's and Memorial pay handicap. $25,000 Stallion Already at the stables is the famed Ras Taffria, a $25,000 stallion stal-lion imported from Australia by Bing Crosby and Lynsey Howard, and now being trained by Lee Southam. This horse ran a photo finish with Kayak II when he broke the track record for the mile at Hialia Park, Miami, Fla. Local Talent Murray Peay and O. J. Peay, recently purchased a beautiful maro that was born and raised in Kentucky. Namei Fairy Time by its owners, the mare has won several races in the larger track meets and will be competing along with Bo Peep Healy, owned by Bryre Thorn; Owen B., Doodle Bomb and Girl Servant, owned by Richard. Rich-ard. Oakley. ( Riley Barnson, one of the leading lead-ing trainers last year, is here from Junction, Utah, and is training seven head at the track. Barnson was tho Don D trainer here last year. Also Jackie Martin, son of John Martin, Springville. is actmg as official jockey for the Spring Acres, doing daily workouts with his mounts. |
