Show IfS UNLAWFUL TO SET FIRES ON FOREST LANDS Although spring storms and cool weather are delaying the expected approach of the 1948 fire season, county, state, and federal fire protection pro-tection agencies are going ahead with plans to meet any fire emergency emer-gency which may arise, according to J. Whitney Floyd, Logan, chief forester-firewarden for Utah. Mr Floyd has sounded the keynote key-note in state fire prevention on forest, range, and watershed lands by issuing the annual proclamation proclama-tion which makes it unlawful for anyone "to set on fire or cause to be set on fire any inflammable material or any forest land,, brush land grass land or range land, stubble or hay land, or to set any fire for the purpose of clearing his own property or the property of another without first securing a permit to do so from the chief firewarden or any one of his deputies." . j,This proclamation is effective between June 1 and October 31, 1948, according to Mr. Floyd. Burning permits are issued in Utah county by the county firewarden, fire-warden, Sheriff Theron Hall. |
