Show EXTRACTS FROM RILL NOW BEFORE THE HOUSE Here are extracts from the bill before the House known as "H. R. 6274:" 1 Men are exempt from the , draft under the following conditions: condi-tions: a. Less than 19 years old or more than 25. b. If they enlisted in the National Guard before the act becomes law. c. If they enlisted in the National Guard before reaching 18 years of age. d. If they have had '12 months service prior to September 2, 1945. e. If they have had at least 90 days service to the date the act becomes law providing they are a . member of one of the reserve components. f. Ministers and students preparing for the minis- try under the direction of recognized church or religious organizations, if they are pursuing satisfactorily a full time course in a recognized theological or divinity school, or if they are satisfactorily pursuing a full time course leading to their entrance into 1 such school, in which they have been pre-en-rolled. 2.--The President of the United States cannot order members of the National Guard into active service without consent of the Governor, Gov-ernor, except in the case of a national na-tional emergency. 3 A high school student can request re-quest to have his induction postponed post-poned until he graduates or until he reaches 20 years of age, whichever which-ever comes first. 4 A full time college student can request to have his induction postponed until the completion of the particular academic year he is then engaged in. |
