Show "New York Town" Promises Movie Vacation i "New York Town," Paramount's all-star comedy drama which arrives ar-rives Friday at the Rivoli theatre, is a gay comedy of life in the Eig Town especially among those folks who make up the majority of the city's heartbeats. Fred MacMurray appears as a sidewalk photographer whose only interest in life is to click with his customers and find new angles to outsmart the world. Mary Martin is the small town girl on whom Fred focuses all his attention in a brotherly sort of way until Robert Preston, wealthy young playboy, gives him some competition. Intent on proving to Mary that one doesn't have to be loaded down with gold bricks to enjoy the better thing's life offers in New York, Fred introduces her to his ingenious ingen-ious circuit of entertainment. His technique in showing her a good time consists of crashing fancy bon voyage parties aboard luxury steamers, lunching at department store food demonstration counters ancj for good measure making the rounds of radio station quiz programs where, with a little cheating, they win a $64 prize. Besides the romantic trio, the all-star cast includes Akim Tam-iroff, Tam-iroff, Lynne Overman, and a long parade of familiar faces who make "New York Town" seem as alive and real as any movie vacation vaca-tion can be. It's one film visit you can look forward to without worrying wor-rying about it letting you down. |
