Show PLANS OUTLINED FOR WAR FUND DRIVE ON NOV. 9 Total Of 4,000 To Be Raised In City; J. Y. Bearnson Is Chairman Plans are nearing completion in this city for the united war fund drive which is scheduled to get underway on November 9, and continue until November 20, under direction of J. Y. Bearnson, general gener-al chairman. Uniting the regular seventeen United War Relief drives, the one big campaign will take care of all relief drives with exception of the Red Cross which will be conducted in March, Chairman Bearnson stated. Springville's quota this year is $4,000, compared with $800 last year, so that every effort and cooperation co-operation of all townspeople will be necessary to raise the amount. The funds are expected to be raised through a house-to-house canvass by various committee members, and contributions will also be asked of the various civic and religious organizations of the city. General chairmen in charge of the national, state and county drives, point out the necessity of contributing financial aid to those countries stricken by the war, to the refugees driven from their homes, and to the thousands of other unfortunates made dependent depend-ent on relief organizations through the misfortunes of war. Chairman Bearnson is being assisted by a large corps of committeemen com-mitteemen representing the various vari-ous organizations of the town. Harrison Conover is publicity director, with A. Y. Wheeler his (Continued on page 12) 'BOND DRIVE . . . (Continued from page one) assistant. Glenn Hansen is treasurer treas-urer of the local organization in charge of the drive, with John A. Miller, secretary. Representing the Legion is Ber-ton' Ber-ton' Groesbeck with Clarence Tut-tle Tut-tle from the Kiwanis club; Taylor Burt from the Junior Chamber of Commerce and Paul C. Miner, the Senior Chamber of Commerce. Other details of the drive, which will be one of the most concerted and important of the year, will be given in next week's issue of the Herald. In the meantime, townspeople towns-people are urged to cooperate with local committees and see that this town goes over the top as it has in previous war-fund drives. |
