A nicely arranged ar-ranged luncheon was served early employing Easter decorations and flowers. , In the card games following lunch, prizes were won by Mrs. Reta Kelly, Mrs. Geneva Men-denhall, Men-denhall, and Mrs. Mabel Hansen, the latter a guest. Others attending attend-ing were Mrs. Gertrude Clements, Mrs. Leola Ewing, Mrs. Thelma Cherrington, Mrs. Blanch Tipton, Mrs. Odessa Child, Mrs. Almina Madsen, Mrs. Elva Averett, and Mrs. Maurine Haymond, the latter also a guest. The group celebrated Mrs. Cher-rington's Cher-rington's birthday and during the evening she was presented with a lovely gift. Of interest to friends and relatives rela-tives here is announcement of the marriage of Rex Whiting of Los Angeles, Calif., son of Mr. and Mrs. Bert Whiting of Mapleton, and Florence Merrell, also of Los Angeles, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. V. C. Merrell of Phoenix, Ariz. The marriage took place in the Mesa, Ariz., temple on April 1. The following evening, a wedding reception was given for the couple in the Mesa Third ward amusement amuse-ment hall, with approximately 200 guests in attendance. The bride was charming in a white jersey wedding dress with a gardenia corsage. She was unattended. un-attended. After the reception, the couple came to Utah in company with Mrs. Merrell and little daughter, to meet Mr. Merrell, who has been employed with the government govern-ment in Alaska. The bride is a graduate of the L. D. S. Business college In Salt Lake City, and has been employed in Los Angeles for some time. Mr. Whiting completed two years at the B. Y. U., Provo, and this spring will complete his fourth year at the University of Southern California, where he has been taking a dental course. Following a two-day visit with relatives and friends here and in Mapleton, the couple left Sunday to make their home in Los Angeles, An-geles, where Mr. Whiting will resume re-sume his studies. THE LAMAR WEIGHTS ENTERTAINED SATURDAY evening at their home at a delicious deli-cious waffle supper. Progressive card games were enjoyable features, fea-tures, with guests including Mr. and Mrs. Leo Weight, Mr. and Mrs. Woodrow Weight, Lenore and Devere Weight, and the host and hostess. , Sales of natural gas last year were 19 per cent over the 1940 total, the biggest increase on record. |
