Show New C. of C. Officers Conduct First Meet Plans Discussed To Have Springville Included In Defense Area At First Meeting Of C. of C. Directors Several important items were taken up at the first meeting of the Chamber of Commerce directors under direction of the new officers Monday morning, . announces Secretary A. R. Peter- son. President George A. Anderson presided at the meeting. It was decided that hereafter regular meetings of the board of directors would be held on the first and third Tuesdays of each month at 7:30 a. m., in the City hall. Arrangements were made to contact con-tact the city council to see what could be done to have Springville included in the defense area. A committee was appointed to act on membership and they were instructed to call in groups representing repre-senting the various business firms to decide on what their membership member-ship should be. The committee appointed in-, eludes President Anderson, C. G. Salisbury, Floyd Miner, Harold Christensen, W. W. Clyde, E. A. Strong, G. Lowry Anderson, Dr. John R. Anderson, and Oliver Senior. F. C. Packard was appointed treasurer of the chamber and a finance committee was also ap-ponted ap-ponted to include F. C. Packard, Glen Hansen, J. Y. Bearnson, Dr. R. C. Petty, Charles A. Franks, A. Y. OFFICERS CONDUCT FIRST MEET (Continued from page one) The chamber conducted their annual installation banquet and program last Thursday evening at Memorial hall, when new officers of-ficers took over duties. Adam S. Bennion was the principal prin-cipal guest speaker, discussing the subject, "Wake Up America," and urging everyone to do his part in the fight for freedom. Dr. George A. Anderson, new chamber president, spoke briefly and W. W. Clyde, retiring president, presi-dent, gave a report on the accomplishments accom-plishments of the chamber the past year. Included among the major ma-jor items were the redistricting of Nebo school district, sponsoring of the Christmas and July fourth celebrations, and others Mrs. William Schreiner gave readings during the evening and Clvf,?afPPy-?aPpieS and Louise Clyde furnished music.
