Show CLEAN-UP! PAINT-UP! FIX-UP! There are two attitudes toward National Defense which every worthy and conscientious American citizen citi-zen will wish to adopt. First, there is the outlook which our National War Production board urges each of us to possess. In essence it is this: "Be efficient! effi-cient! Produce to your utmost capacity! Make your every minute a moment of achievement! The other attitude, which is just as vital to the success of our country as the former, is this : "Waste nothing! Take care of all the things you have! Make your every minute a moment of repair, re-pair, upkeep, and improvement." This is the plea which the Springville Junior Chamber of Commerce Com-merce is making to all Springville citizens and home owners. For after all, the success of the Spring Clean-up campaign depends solely on the cooperation, indus-triousness, indus-triousness, and pride of each and every Springville resident. This is truly the time of year when Nature is clothed in its most glorious apparel. It is also the time of year when homes, gardens, garages, and yards should look their loveliest. For fresh and lively Spring is really here. Grass is beginning begin-ning to turn green. Trees are donning their long-awaited long-awaited leaves. The skies are clearer and the mountains have assumed their loftiest grandeur. Let's not allow Nature to put human endeavor to shame. Let's paint our homes, repair our garages, rake our lawns, eliminate our rubbish, weed our garden, gar-den, and beautify our yards. In that way we can cooperate co-operate not only with National Defense and local Clean-up campaign committees, but with Nature as well. Then, too, just as a person is judged by the friends he keeps, so is he judged by the home he maintains. Run-down, neglected, weed-grown homes are conclusive evidence of run-down, halfhearted, half-hearted, inefficient citizens. Springville wants neither that type of home or that type of citizen. As an incentive to the residents for making their homes and surroundings neat and attractive, the Junior Jun-ior Chamber of Commerce has offered a $25 Defense Saving Bond and $10 in Defense Saving Stamps to the two winning entrants in the Clean-up contest which it is promoting. The contest is free and everyone every-one is urged to enter. Just call the Springville Herald office toay. Don't wait. You have a right to be the winner! |
