Show Citizens Invited To Lincoln Day Banquet Friday Townspeople are invited to what officers say will be the largest and mos: significant Lincoln Day celebration ever held in Utah county. The celebration is in honor of Lincoln, and the 100th anniversary anniver-sary of the Republican Party. The theme of the banquet will be Water.' United States Representatives Arthur L. Miller of Nebraska will be the keynote speaker. Mr. Miller is one of 'the nation's foremost ad-, vocates of reclamation and conser vation projects. At the present time he is chairman of the powerful power-ful House Interior and Insular Affairs Af-fairs committee, the committee that has been conducting' hearings concerning the Colorado River Project and the Echo Park Project. Pro-ject. Rep. Miller's keynote address will be directed toward the needs of Utah County for reclamation, and more particularly the Central Utah Project, its feasibility, applicability ap-plicability and possibility of its passage by Congress. Mrs. Lyean oJhnson of Pleasant Grove is chairwoman and is in charge of the celebration and banquet. ban-quet. The banquet will be held in the Vermont-Orem First Ward chapel of the LD5 church. This is located four blocks east of the Safeway store in Orem. Dinner is being planned and served by the Vermont ward Relief Society. B. M. Jolley, newly elected Utah County Republican chairman will be toastmaster. Governor Lee, Secretary of State Toronto, Attorney. Attor-ney. General Callister and all state and local officials will be present. ' Arrangements have been made to accommodate 500 guests and present sales indicate a sell-out crowd. |
