Show Current Heart Fund Drive' Merits Full Cooperation We need no greater reminder of the ravages of heart disease than the above chart. It tells a story hard to believe, yet, when we look around us we can't help noting how many of our relatives and friends are suffering or have passed pass-ed away due to pur lack of knowledge, knowl-edge, according to Sterling Price, county official assisting with the heart fund collections. We as Springville citizens should be reminded that we have proportionately propor-tionately as many suffering from heart disease as any other locality in the county some say a bigger proportion. This fact seems to be born out, for when we look up the records we find that Springville Spring-ville in the past three years has had 9 cases of serious heart disorders dis-orders that have required aid from the county heart fund. This is more, in proportion to population, popula-tion, than any other city in the county, Mr. Price stated. Mr. Price went on to say that he did not believe that Springville needs more welfare aid than any other city in Utah County, so either our proportion of heart dist- orders is greater or the other cities are getting less benefit from the fund. "But how about donations to the fund? There my pride sinks, for the record shows that we have been near, if not at the bottom," Mr. Price said. "True there has been little done by organized forces to collect in Springville, but should busy men and women have to solicit from door to door to get aid for such a worthy cause. I do not believe they should. If they take the time to attend the meetings, meet-ings, investigate all the cases of need, furnish transportation to the hospitals and follow the general welfare of those needing this aid, then it is my thought that we as citizens should load every heart bank in town, and those who can, send checks to your committee head. As citizens proud of our city, let's redeem the past. Fill the heart banks fill your heart," Mr. Price concluded. Checks should go to Mrs. Ruby Christensen, Springville city chairman. |
