Show Anglers Prepare For Early Opening of Season Upwards of 150,000 anglers will trek to streams, lakes, and reservoirs reser-voirs for the May 28 opening of the Utah fishing season. Since this is the earliest general angling season opening in many years the department of fish and game today reminded anglers to expect different conditions than usually us-ually prevail. The department noted that high, roily water could be expected in most streams. The late cool spring weather may make roads and camping area conditions at higher elevations less favorable than has been the rule when the season opened nearer mid-June. The hatchery trucks are now beginning be-ginning to move fish to accessible lakes and reservoirs. It is expected expect-ed that nearly all these still waters will receive an average plant of catchables before the opening date.' However, many streams will not be planted until the high water period is past. All streams will receive a normal or greater planting of hatchery legals as conditions permit through the season. The department advised ad-vised that anglers know their regulations regu-lations before going afield. |
