Mrs. Rrma Hjortli and daughter daugh-ter Nancy, accompanied by Mrs Catherine Clements of Ogden spent the weekend in Idaho visiting visit-ing with Hugh Hjorth Who is completing com-pleting a contract job in Black-foot. Black-foot. They also visited at the Hyrum Manwaring- home in Rex-burg. Rex-burg. Mrs. Sadie Whiting was hostess to the members of the Needle Craft Club at her home Thursday afternoon. after-noon. Mary Nielson, elementry school supervisor for Nebo School District entertained with experiences experien-ces she had in Brazil. Luncheon 'and Vanda Jensen and music was2 furnished by the Junior Sunday School under the direction of Penney Pen-ney Banks. Mr. and Mrs. James Wiscomb are spending a week in Parawan visiting at the home of their daughter and her husband Mr. and Mrs. Thales Brown. i Caroline Everett who is attending attend-ing school at Logan spent the week end at the home of her parents Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Everett. She was accompanied by a friend Jill Pack of Roosevelt, who also spent the weekend with them. Mrs. C. W. Erickson of Salt Lake City and Mr. Orlando Erickson of Murry were Sunday dinner guests at the Norris T. Binks home. Their sons Blair, Cornell and Glade and$; their families were also guests. Mr. and Mrs. Kay Roberts entertained en-tertained a group of their relatives relativ-es and friends at a pot luck supper sup-per Saturday night. Attending from Lake Shore were Jessie Peterson, Pe-terson, Ted Gordon, Heber Peterson Peter-son and Clyde Wilson and their wives; from Spanish Fork were Mr. and Mrs. Fran Dudley, Mr., and Mrs. Jay Peterson, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Peterson and Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Verett from Maple ton. The time was spent in playing games after supper. The members of the mapleton Ward Relief Society were entertained enter-tained with a delicious Mother's pav luncheon and program Tuesday Tues-day afternoon in the church. The visiting t eachers and magazine agents' were special guests. Lunch was served at 12:30 at lor."- tables beautifuly decorated with spring flowers. In charge of the serving were Inez Havmer, Blanch Tew, Marva Whiting, Barbara Bar-bara Hurry, Gladys Parry, Ethel Jensen, Jennie Tew and Argcs Harrison. Har-rison. Beth Jensen inLroduced the following fol-lowing program: four dance numbers num-bers by young Pauline Whiting and her sister; reading Helen Campbell; tribute to the visiting was served to twenty-four including- six special guests who were Noll Wiscomb, Norma McKenzie, Ida Whiting, Rose Neilson, Carol Nielson, Locen Whiting and Ruth Whiting. Assisting the hostess were Jennie Jen-nie Tew, Blanch Tew, Vanda Jensen Jen-sen and Harriet Nielson. Jimmy Diamond is home after completing two years service in the army. He arrived home Saturday, Sat-urday, April 30 from Hawaii where he has been, stationed the past six months. Prior to that he spent sixteen six-teen months in Korea after completing com-pleting his bacic training at Fort Ord, California. Jimmy is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Lee Diamond. Mr. and Mrs. D. S. Hopla and Mrs. Amanda Binks were in Salt Lake City Monday to see Mr. Joseph Jo-seph Erickson who is seriously ill in the LDS Hospital. A Mothers's Day program was presented Sunday morning in the Mapleton Ward Sunday School with Harold Gividen in charge. Music was furnished by the Junior Sunday School under the direction direc-tion of Orpha Dee Johnson. Talks were given by Collette Binks, representing rep-resenting the Young Mothers and by Esther Hurst representing the grandmothers. A tribute to the mothers was given by Bishop Wel-by Wel-by Warren. Each mother was presented pre-sented with a potted plant. The MIA sponsored program Sunday night in the Mapleton Ward which was presented by the speech and music departments under un-der the leadership of Ida Diamond and Aida Bingham. Speeches were given by Stewart C. Whiting, Bishop Bish-op Welby Warren, Mable Paulson and Norris T. Binks. Ethel Jensen gave the scripture reading and music was furnished by Orpha Dee Johnson and Jane Jensen who sang a vocal Duet; Joyce Bird and Grace Norwood, a vocal duet and a solo by Aida Bingham. Narrators Narra-tors were Gwen and Jomes Allen, Lynn Anderson and Sharon Jensen. A Mother's Day family dinner was served at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Willis Harmer Sunday- to members of their fimily. Mr. and Mrs Mel Harwood and Children of Salt Lake City, Mr. and Mrs. Ennis Woffinden and family of Benjamin and Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Ken-neth Harmer of Springville were among the guests. Joy Jensen,1 Jerry Fullmer Donna Don-na Gay Mendenhall and Wanda Holly who are all employed in Salt Lake City, spent Mother's Day at the home of their Parents. Dr. Rex Whiting and daughter Ann of Helper were visitors at the Bert Whiting home Sunday, and togethers with Mr. and Mrs. Whiting Whit-ing were 'dinner guests at the home of Mr and Mrs. Reese Anderson. Katherin Harris was in charge of the Mother's Day program m the Mapleton Second Ward Sunday Sun-day Morning in Sunday School. Talks were given by Virginia Hall |
