Show Football Under the Lights September 30 Planned by City Recreation Department Recreation problems took up a major portion of the time at the city council Monday evening with arguments pro and con on going ahead with installa- uons at the recreation area. Max Sumsion representing the Hobble Creek Riding club together with other members, met with the council seeking a written agreement agree-ment to the effect that if the Riding Rid-ing club moved their bleechers and other equipment to the park, they would be given some privileges. The council explained to the delegation dele-gation that it would be impossible to draw up an agreement as other civic clubs making contributions to the park may also seek privileges. privil-eges. The Riding club members were told however that they could use the park for rodeos and would be given every possible consideration. considera-tion. At the council meeting an agreement agree-ment was signed by the mayor, the Nebo school district and the high schools, whereby the high school may use the area for football providing pro-viding the high school bleechers are moved to the park and the school district helps to furnish part of the lights. The first football foot-ball game, under the lights is scheduled for September 30, and by this time it is expected the lights will be installed. It was also stated at the council coun-cil meeting that the two towers for which holes have been dug for several weeks at the Memorial park will be installed and that plans will go forward for installation installa-tion of the remainder of the system sys-tem as soon as possible. Regarding the installation of a traffic light at the intersection of Main and Second South, the council coun-cil appointed Harold Whiting and Ralph Child to again meet with the state road commission and explain ex-plain to them the need for this signal at the intersection. The council had previously received a letter from .the road commission stating that in their opinion it was not necessary to install a traffic traf-fic light at this point. The councilmen went over the city audit with a representative from the auditing firm and he stated that the financial audit for 1954 indicated everything in order, the audit reflecting "a healthy condition of city funds." |
