Show SMITH HEADS T EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE Building Committee . Named For New 'Y' Edifice Developments forthcoming from the meeting of the executive committee, board of trustees of Brigham Young university, at the office of President Franklin S. Harris in the Maeser building, Tuesday Tues-day night, tvere as follows: 1. Appointment of Joseph Fielding Smith, member of ttie L. D. S. Council of Tw-elve Apostles, Apos-tles, as chairman of the executive execu-tive committee, and K. B. Sauls as secretary. 2. Appointment of the following follow-ing as a building committee from the university to arrange details for construction of the proposed B. Y. U. chapel and religious program pro-gram center: Herald R. Clark, professor of finance and banking and dean of the college of commerce; com-merce; William H. Snell. associate associ-ate professor of mechanical artg; and J. Wyley Sessions, professor of religious education and director direc-tor of religious activities. 3. Approval of tentative plans for commencement exercises at Brigham Young. Commencement was set for June 7, baccalaureate services June 4, senior day June 2 and alumni day, June 6. Dfscussion of preliminary plans for the new building to be constructed con-structed on the upper campus east of the Grant Library and Brimhall building occupied a portion por-tion of the meeting. Plans are only tentative. President Presi-dent Harris said today. However, if they materialize, the building-project building-project will start his summer under un-der the church welfare plan. At a meeting of the church board of education at Salt Lake City recently, Che new B. Y. U. building build-ing was tentatively approved. The following were present at the meeting: Joseph F. Merrill, Mr. Smith, Stephen L. Richards, Dr. John A. Widtsoe, Charles A. Callis, Albert E. Bowen, President Harris. Mr. Sauls, and Dr. Franklin Frank-lin L. West, church commissioner of education. |
