Show Former Provsans , Hilled in Umh PIOCHE, Nev., April 19 (U.R) Four miners were killed and two others injured seriously today to-day in a premature explosion at the Combined Metals, reductions mine. The dead: Joe Mcglin, 33, Morgan Hill, Calif. Howard Mitchell, 32, Joplin, Mo. (ieo.rge Lees, 31, Provo, TUah. Scott Walker 34, Provo, Utah. The explosion occurred in the Caselton shaft. All todies were recovered. The injured were George Alexander Alex-ander and Curley Douglas. They were threatened with loss of sight. Alexander said they were loading load-ing powder into holes when the blast occurred. State mining orticials were called in to investigate. A coroner's cor-oner's inquest will be held tonight. to-night. ! All victims were married. Word was received this, morning morn-ing bv Mr. and Mrs. David Lees of 856 West First 'South street, tell- j ing of the accidental death of their son, George Lees, mine worker work-er at Pioche, Nev., Tuesday. Funeral services and interment will be held at Ursine, Nev., Friday Fri-day and the parents and members of the family arc leaving to attend. at-tend. Mr. Lees was born in Provo, and left Provo eight years ago. He is survived by his wife and two children, his parents, five brothers and one sister, as follows: Don and James Lees, Ursine, Nev., Fred and Leon Lees, Provo; David Lees, Ogden, and Mrs. Susie Steele, American Fork. |
