Show M.I. A. BANQUET EDITORIAL . Motivated by the major objectives of "M" Men t and Gleaner girls' activities, the annual banquet, pro gram, and dance social, sponsored by these groups, at the high school auditorium, Saturday night, portrayed indeed the possibilities of developing culture and social refinement in young people of the community. Every detail of the entertainment seemed a factor in directing the mind of youth to deep values of mind and spirit, and to the beautiful in outward expression. With each phase of the program worked out by various groups with the aid of stake leaders and supervisors super-visors one of the outstanding objectives of the department de-partment was carried out with remarkable success. I The development of a higher type of leadership j was in evidence in the general theme of the entire J entertainment. Beautifully decorated tables were ar- ; ranged about the hall and in the center space demon strations of M. I. A. dances were given with the grace and simplicity characteristic only of such gatherings. Toasts, and other program numbers together with the J dance music were all in keeping with the well chosen , theme of Valentine and youth. The uplifting effects of such activities not only upon the young people, but upon the community as a whole, is in a sense immeasureable, and the extent to which desireable acquaintanceship is fostered by such entertainment can well be sfen in the attendance, which included over 200 young people. If the success of the nation depends on the youth of today surely such forms of activity will go far in I developing the right kind of men and women for the J1 , future. |
