Show ROOSEVELT DUE IN S. L. DH FRIDAY Democratic Nominee At Tabernacle Saturday. SALT LAKE CITY, Sept. 13--The two-day visit of Governor Gov-ernor Franklin D. Roosevelt, Democratic nominee for president, presi-dent, will mark the beginning begin-ning of the Democratic campaign cam-paign in Utah, a campaign that promises to be one of the liveliest in recent years. Plans for Governor Roosevelt's visit and his address in the Salt Lake tabernacle Saturday evening have been practically completed. The. address will be one of only four delivered on his -western trip. Preliminary Program The public meeting will begin at 6:45 with-a preliminary program of music , by the tabernacle choir, under the direction of Prof. A. C. Lund. .The address of Governor Roosevelt will -start at 7:15 p. m., after he has , been introduced by Governor George H. Dern. No seats will be reserved, a policy of first come first served to be in. vogue. A public address system .will be installed for the . convenience of the expected over- flow crowd on the tabernacle grounds. Governor Roosevelt and his: party, par-ty, which left Albany Monday night, are scheduled to -arrive in Salt Lake City," Friday -at 11:45 p. m. in a special train . over the Union Pacific system The party will be met at Cheyenne by Governor Gov-ernor Dern, Senator William H. '. King, Elbert D. Thomas, nominee for Congress, , and other- Democratic Demo-cratic leaders. i Remains Sunday ) Upon his arrival here Governor Roosevelt will be escorted to the Newhouse hotel, , where "he will maintain headquarters Saturday and Sunday, conferring with party leaders from surrounding states. He will receive visitors Saturday Satur-day morning and at 12:15 p. m. will be the guest of the chamber of commerce board of governors at a luncheon in the Newhouse hotel. After the luncheon he will receive visitors again until he goes to the tabernacle to deliver his address. The tentative program for Sunday Sun-day includes a luncheon at the home of Governor Dern, a visit to the flower show at the capitol, and a public reception in the govern-; govern-; or's reception room during the afternoon. The special train is scheduled to leave for Butte, Mont, by. way of Pocatello, Sunday at 5 p. m. . |
