Show SOCIETY j In honor of Mrs. Frances Peterson, Peter-son, widow of John Peterson, whose Ht;v only-sixth birthday anniversary occurred Friday, her daughter, Mrs. y.c-lmu Luardall entertained at a dinner fur u number of out of town relatives. Mrs. Peterson was born in Kng-lond Kng-lond and came to Spring ville 64 years qko where she has since made her hom She has always been an active member of the L. D. S. church. Her children are Andrew, Will and George Peterson and Mrs. Bt-n rilull, Springville, Mia. Gatherum, Gather-um, Salt Luke and Mrs. Morton, Prove. Mr. and Mrs. J. K. Hoyle and children spent Thursday with friends in Salt Lake. Mr. and Mrs. Leo Larson of Eureka Eu-reka spent aeveral days of the pasl week as guests of Mr. Larson's Mi;ler, Mrs. George Uraiidall and family here. , . . ' Members of the American Legion Le-gion auxiliary held their regular mom hly meeting Wednesday evening eve-ning at the Memorial hull. A musical mus-ical program was furnished by Miss Kvelyn Miner, Miss Eva Starr, Miss Gloria Friel and Miss Dona Snelson. Elizabeth Alleman gave a dunce and Miss Dona Salisbury, readings. Reports of the state convention were given by Mrs. Thelma Clark, President Hilda Giant and Mrs. Lela Nelson. During Dur-ing the meeting Mrs. Helen Cran-dall Cran-dall waa elected president of the auxiliary for the coming year. Mrs. Ada Barron, first vice president; Mrs. Martha Whiting, second vice president; Mrs. Thelma Claik, treusurer; Mrs. William Wain- ; wright, historian; Miss Helen Rey-I nolds, chaplain; Mrs, Bessie Thorn, j sergeant at arms. Dainty refreshments refresh-ments concluded the meeting, being served by Mrs. Margaret Grooms, Mrs. LaPreal Friel and Mrs. Elsie Thyret, hostesses to 25 members and guests. ; . Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Bird accompanied accom-panied by Mr. and Mrs. Ldoyd Bird enjoyed a trip to Yellowstone park and also visited friends and rela tives at Montpelier and Paris, j Idaho, during the past week. In honor of Mr. and Mrs. Orman Weight who left this week for their home at Hurricane, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph B. Weight entertained at a canyon party at Kelley's Grove Saturday evening. A variety of games were featured and a de-UciouH de-UciouH bonfire 'lunch-was served. About thirty-tone-" -relatives - and friends were in attendance. Mr. weight is employed as music supervisor super-visor in the schools at Hurricane. The first meeting of the Home Culture club was held Friday afternoon after-noon . at the home of Mis. H. E. Tjrquhart. Miss Sophia gave an interesting history of the club from its organization to the present day; Miss Beth Mendenhail entertained with piano solos; Miss Helen Fox furnished a vocal jsola accompanied at the piano by Evelyn Miner. A dainty luncheon served by the hostess host-ess concluded, the meeting. . Mr, and Mrs. J. M. Brown of this city announce the engagement of their daughter Lucille, to Milton LeRoy Noble, son of Mr. and; Mrs. LeRoy Woble of Spanish Fork; The marriage will take place Thursday evening at the home of the brkle with Bishop A. Cherrington of the First ward performing the ceremony, cere-mony, i - - Mrs. Cora Thorn Bird before leaving leav-ing for her home in Los Angeles, was entertained by a number of friends in Salt Lake City on Friday Fri-day evening she gave a delightful musical program over KSL especially espe-cially enjoyed by people .of her home town. A-officers A-officers for all M. I. A. ward officers offi-cers and their partners. .It .was held in the First ward amusement hall. A program with President George Simkins in charge was an enjoyable feature followed by dainty dain-ty refreshments. A -large number from each of the wards-of the stake attended. v: Miss Helen Palfreyman, Howard Maycock, and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Brown were among th& Springville people to attend the Prusse-Has-ler wedding .reception in Provo Wednesday Wed-nesday evening. , Mrs. Hugh Baxter was hostess to the Social Twelve club at her home Thursday evening. Progressive Progress-ive bridge was played with Mrs. Hilda Grant and Mrs. Ruby Wood-mansee Wood-mansee winning prizes. Other members present were Mrs. Emma Rowland, Mrs. Hazel Harrison, Mrs. Ora Rowland, Mrs. Gertrude Sum-sion. Sum-sion.
