Show BINGHAM LOOKS AT FIRE RUINS HIGHLAND BOY, Bingham Canyon, Utah, Sept. 10 (U.R) Cheered by the realization that they would be fed and housed as Jong- as necessary, over 300 homeless home-less residents of this fire-swept mining community today considered consider-ed ways and means of rebuilding their homes. In the meantime relief agencies stepped into the breach left in the wake of the $350,000 fire late Thu rsday. Governor George H. Dern announc ed the state would back to the limit programs of Red Cross and other organizations. The fire travelled one-third of a mile up the narrow walled canyon before it was controlled. Business buildings hon ies and oven structures struc-tures 250 feet above the canyon floor were consumed by the flames. The blaze originated in an aban- Pathetic was the case of Mrs. Pathotitc vas the case of Mrs. Alma Jones. She had labored for years to build up a large boarding house, valued at $80,000. During the past year she has housed and fed many unemployed miners, unable un-able to pay hef anything. Her boarding hojse was completely destroyed de-stroyed and she carried no insurance. |
