Show COMMERCE COMMISSION MODIFIES PREVIOUS ORDER a New Move In the Case of Paclfld Coast Lumber Manufacturers Against Railroad Companies Washington Tho Interstate commerce com-merce commission has further modified modi-fied a previous order In the case of the Pacific coast lumber manufacturers manufactur-ers and other sirfilar organizations against the Northern Pacific and nineteen nine-teen other railroad companies The order points out that the defendants have failed and neglected to voluntarily volun-tarily establish a through rate for tho transportation of forest products between certain points and directs that the defendants not later than October 15 establish and maintain for two years through rates through Portland Ore over their roads for tiro transportation of various lumber products pro-ducts specified from all points In Washington on the line of the Northern North-ern Pacific as far north ns Seattle and not east of Palmer Wash excluding ex-cluding however points south and east of Seattle having rail connection with Seattle officially by Junction points north of that city at Salt Lake City and Ogden Utah and to all other points In Utah taking tho same rate as Salt Lake City and Ogden on shipments of forest products from Portland The Joint rales are in no case to exceed the following In cents per 100 points Fir and spruce lumber In carloads 40 cents shingles In carloads 50 cents cedar lumber In carloads 50 cents long timbers requiring two or more cars CO cents subject further to present minimum weight regulations regula-tions The commission orders that in establishing es-tablishing joint rates on the forest products applicable to the through routes ordered between the respective respec-tive points of origin and destination mentioned the defendants shall in no case make such joint through rates more than two and a halt cents per tOO pounds higher than tiro rates on the same products from Portland Ore to such destination |
