The fight for the pole vault was stiff. R. Stevenson captured first placo with 10 feet 3 Inches in height. Mcintosh of the East hierh pushed him hard. Stevens from Tooele put the shot 41 feet 1 inch for the only five points secured by Tooele. The officials ran the meet off In a first-class first-class manner. U.. 6 Tooele 5 Grantsville 4 1-2 West high 1 EAST high had things its own way in the Salt Lake division track meet at CJummlngs field yesterday afternoon to determine the entrants for the annual state track meet, which will take place on Adams field in Logan under the auspices of the Utah Agricultural college next Friday afternoon. after-noon. -The Leopards got 46 points. Granite Gran-ite wos their closest, competitor, with '.'.2. The University of Utah high school took third with 15'., while Jordan and tho L D. S. U. tied for fourth with C tallies each. Tooele took '6, Grantsville 4, while the West high trailed in the dust with 1 point. The factor which brought the honors to the Leopards was a number of new men who have been developed at the East high this spring. Only four firs: places were taken by tho Kast high against five for Granite, .hut a number of seconds and thirds hrnucrht the East high total far above- that of the Farmers from Granite. Kerr's Work Feature. Sayman Kerr, running under tho colors of tho University of Uiah high school, proved the star of the day. K;tT captured first honors in the 4 10, SS0 and the mile. In the mile Kerr equaled the state record of 4 minutes 4 4-5 seconds m.uie by Anderson of the L. T. S. U. in 19 13, and is out to lower the mark in the sli!te meet. Kerr ran n!l three races yesterday like a veteran, holding an unfaltering pace throughout and starting his sprint each time at the right moment. Korr attended the East high last year, Lut did not compete com-pete on account of an accident. P.uehner of Granite took second honors with lo points and a place on the Granite relay team. Buehner showed his hojis to tho field in the 0, while, ho was beaten only by inches in the 100-yard dash. Buehner Bueh-ner had things his own way in tho broad jump. Oscar Smith proved a whirlwind in the 100-yard dash. Ho captured his trial heat easily and took tho fin;, Is after a hard scrap with Buehner. None nj-x-h wan dor finished a close third.
