One juror was fumbling a penny in his fingers. He dropped it quite i accidently and it fell squarely upon I a crack in the cement floor, which is laid off in two-foot squares. "You win," laughed one of his fellow jurors, "I'll toss you." Two pennies flashed in the air. Next time there were more and soon ' the eight jurors had forgotten how bored they were. The baliffs looked on hungerly, but felt themselves barred from participating in the game, which was broken up only when the jury was recalled to the courtroom. |
