Show 110 BOARD AUDIT WILL BECOMPLETED Deputies Named to Continue Con-tinue Work of Checking, on Book Department. Fullest cooperation between the office of Joseph RIHe, state auditor, and the board of land commissioners and its employees em-ployees was assured yesterday at a conference con-ference held between Auditor Rirfe and the land board. Auditor Ririe announced that he would designate L. E. Mainor, jsl deputy in Ms office, to take personal charge of and audit tho land board's accounts, ac-counts, dating from statehood down to the present. Auditor Mainor already, partly aa a special Investigator paid out of the $25,000 fund provided to the governor gov-ernor by the legislature in 191" and partly part-ly as a deputy aiditor, has completed an audit of the land board throughout territorial terri-torial days. Auditor Ririe said that he had had experience in such work, having I been engaged in similar work for the state of Idaho, j Auditor Mainor will be assisted at ; timco by W. M. McKendrick, also a dep-i dep-i uty auditor with Idaho experience, and by other deputies of the auditor's of-; of-; fico. Further plans for cooperation between i the two offices were laid. The auditor ! disclaimed any intention but that of getting get-ting at the facts and of introducinug. if possible, a rett-er system in i no land board's met hods of accounting. I Auditor Ririe will pay for this work j out of x'r.a contingent fund of hla nffico. A bill introduced at the last legislature appropriated $16. MO for this particular audit, pia'-lng the money at the state auditor's disposal. The bill wa.s amended in the senate so as to place the money in the hands of the governor and to eliminate mention of the land board, giving giv-ing the governor pover simply to investigate inves-tigate any public office he miyht deem necessary. |
