Teamsters employed em-ployed at the two mills also asked for ?10 a day. At the Globe mills It was said that the electricians, iron workers and teamsters walked out with the laborers. It was stated the electricians and iron workers did not ask for an increase In pay, but struck in sympathy with the laborers. J. H. Waugh, construction engineer of the Globe company, said the companies refused to pay the increase asked and, If need bo, the work will be shut down . until next spring-. The definite action upon , the matter of ceasing work will be de-I de-I elded by the head offices of the Globe ! and Speery companies at San Francisco. In speaking of tho strike, Mr. Waugh 1 said: j "Other firms and construction compa-i compa-i nies of the city and state are paying their, 1 laborers the same scalo that we have been I paying. On account of this fact we will ! not grant the increase. The men working j in other departments walked out in sym-i sym-i pathy with the strikers and, unless the j men decide to return to work, we will close our plant until the situation can be satisfactorily adjusted. If the laborers in all parts of the city had made the demand, de-mand, we probably would have taken a different view of the situation." At the Globe mill3 it was stated that an engineer and fireman still remain at their posts. The carpenters continued at work up to the end of the day. It was stated that no Intimation had been made as to whether they would walk out or not. Officials of the Specry Flour company would not make any statement, other than to say the demands of the men would not be granted.
