I- X -r;, f " 'I "' SALT LAKE GIRL m npi Miss Gaby Bridewell Chooses Stage for Her Career. A stage actress, born and raised in this city, comes this week to prove that Salt Lake is every year adding to the long list of footlight celebrities who claim the Utah capital as their home or birthplace. This time it is Gaby Bridewell of the vaudeville team of the Miss Florence Merritt and Miss Gaby Bridewell, who makes good the city's boast of producing produc-ing more stage stars than any other city of like size. Miss Bridewell is the daughter of Mrs. Kate Bridewell Anderson, who until her departure six or seven years ago was a prominent Salt Lake club woman. Mrs. Bridewell Bride-well was also prominent as a singer and a leader in musical circles, iihe was at one time president of the Daughters of the Confederac. Miss Bridewell, she has taken this as her stage name, has much of her mother's talents as a musician. She and her vaudeville teammate compose and write all of the songs used in their act. They are now engaged in writing a musical comedy which lias been promised prom-ised a production by one of the foremost fore-most producers. Merritt and Bridewell will appear on this week's Orpheum bill in a skit called "Bright Moments of Mirth and Melody." Mrs., Anderson, Miss Bridewell Bride-well 's mother, is now a resident of Sacramento, Sac-ramento, where both girls have recently spent their vacations. |
