Show FRENCH NEWSPAPERS CRITICISE AMERICANS PARIS, Sunday, Aug. 31. The presence of British forces, the newspaper holds, unquestionably unquestion-ably exercised influence upon the population. popula-tion. The Echo de Paris declares that the American mission made a most hurried inquiry in every region where French sentiment displayed itself. The Constantinople correspondent of the Eclair says that the American mission left Turkey without having obtained precise pre-cise responses to its inquiries that would justify a definite conclusion.
