Show Villa Forces Defeated. E(L PASO, Texas, Sept. 3. Official reports re-ports from General Manuel Dieguez, received re-ceived at Juarez military headquarters late today, tell of the severe defeat of Villa forces at the hands of federals commanded com-manded by General Castro. The battle opened Tuesday morning at 9 o'clock at the point on the Mexican Cen triil railroad six miles east of Du-rango Du-rango City, to which point the Villa forces were moving to attack when they were overtaken by the federals, traveling In an armored troop train. The rebels, according to General Dieguez, numbered 700 men. The battle lasted upward of an hour, when the rebels fled, leaving 100. dead, wounded and prisoners on the field. The federals lost four officers and five men killed and seventeen wounded. When General Dieguez's report was sent from Torreon federal cavalry were pursuing the rebels. |
