Show CITY PLANS WELCOME TO U. S.MOTOR TRAIN Salt Lake Representatives Plan Meeting" Trucks at Wyoming Line. With more than three miles of trucks, rolling kitchens, mobile repair shops and touring cars in line, the transcontinental army motor convoy will reach Salt Lake August 15, according to the schedule of the trip, which was received yesterday The convoy is being sent out by the government gov-ernment to determine the feasibility of long tours with trucks and to gather various va-rious data. According to the schedule, the transport trans-port train will leave Tipton station, Wyo., on the morning of August 1 and arrive In Green River that night. The following follow-ing day tha convoy will cover sixty-three miles to Fort Bridger and the following evening will stop at Evanston. Eighty-eight Eighty-eight miles will be covered on August 15, between Evans ton and Ogden, and thence to Salt Lake, the convoy arriving here late in the afternoon. The eighty-eight-mile jumfl from Evans ton to Salt Lake is the longest one-day trip scheduled sched-uled during the entire tour across the country. Preparations are being made In Salt Lake .through the Utah Automobile association as-sociation to welcome those with the convoy con-voy and entertain them during their stay here. Committees composed of state, county and city officials will be appointed within a few days, it is probable that a largo contingent of motorists will accom-! accom-! pany the train when It leaves here for tiie west and will also meet H at the state line upon arrival from the east. The arrangements are in charge of T. DeWItt Foster, secretary of the automobile automo-bile association. An invitation to meet the train has been received by the automobile auto-mobile association from BNgadler General C. B. Drake, general staff, chief of the motor transport corps of the United States army. Detailed records will be kept during tiie transcontinental trip, which later will be turned in to the war department. The letter follows: j "In reply to your communication of June 19, relative to data to be obtained on the transcontinental convoy, you are advised that exhaustive and complete statistics sta-tistics will be made of each vehicle that, participates in this convoy. .
