Show VICTOR CLUTCH IGEDJjITH Hydraulic Oil Device Is Pronounced Pro-nounced Efficient in New Venture. An announcement of more than passing pass-ing interest to tho automobile world was mado 3'eaterday by Dr. D. W. Withers, With-ers, president of tho Victor Motor and Clutch company, controlling tho rights to the Victor hydraulic oil clutch. It is to the effect that the Victor clutch has been installed on a motor truck and that initial tests show it to be .just as efficient as on the ordinary passenger car. Thero was a question as to tho sue cessful operation of this new device on t he motor vehicle built for heaviei work, but the experiment just com pielod removes this doubt, according :o Dr. Withers. "The news will be welcomed by thousands of users of automobile trucks," said Dr. Withers. "Cost of operation and upkeep is of more importance im-portance to the business firm which om-ploys om-ploys one or more trucks every day than it is. to the individual owner of a passenger car, who has an automobile automo-bile chiefly for convenience sake. "It has been thoroughly demonstrated demon-strated that the Victor clutch not only reduces the original cost of the motor ear, but, by eliminating the costly and troublesome gearset, reduces repair bills and cuts down tire wear and use of gasoline. Tho gearshift is entirely eliminated by tho Victor clutch. It is replaced by a sliding lever, which fan to pushed backward or forward with the slightest effort. Thus, operation is simplified and the danger of gear-stripping gear-stripping is done away with. "The Victor hydraulic clutch is the invention of a Salt Lake man. When its success was proved by tests on an ordinary five-passenror touring car a company was formed to put the device de-vice on tho market. A factory is to be built soon for the wholesale manufacture manufac-ture of the device." |
