Show NEW TANK RULE IS HELP TO SWIMMERS (Chicago Tribune Special Service.)" CHICAGO. May 13. The elimination by the National A. A. V. recently of the maximum length clause from "the . rule governing dimensions of indoor swimming pools Is considered of great advantage to the Pacific coast, where tne pools are generally larger than in the east. Heretofore a national swimming championship cham-pionship indoors could only be contested in pools not less than sixty feet long or longer than 15f feet in length. 1 The drawback for Pacific coast swimmers swim-mers has been that two of the best places to hold national championships -tfutro baths in San Francisco and Neptune beach at Alameda, across the hav ha ve been automatically eliminated because the tank of the former is 225 feet long and that of the latter 300 feet long. The new rule will be that an indoor national na-tional may be swum in a tank any lengtj over sixty feet. |
