Show SUB POSTOFFICE STATION TO OPEN Branch Will Be Located at Regent Street and Or-pheum Or-pheum Alley. Salt Lake's new substation of the post-office post-office will be located at the southeast corner of Regent street and Orpheum alley, according to announcement made last night by William G. Haas, inspector at the main postofficc. Mr. Haas made the announcement after the receipt yesterday yes-terday of the official news from Washington. Wash-ington. - i The selection was made in September. but was held up because of protests from , upper Main street business houses, which Sought to have the substation located in that vicinity. A lease has been entered Into with the Clavlon Investment company com-pany for a period of five years, and the new substation will be opened In the near future. The Regent street office will be equipped to handle the mall for upper Main and State street, and will take care of everything that can be handled at the main postofflce, with the exceptions of the delivery of mall and the rent of boxes. Postofflce officials expect that the substation sub-station will relieve a serious congestion at the federal building office, and will serve the Interests of the upper part of the business section as the present office will serve the southern section. In order to have the new station In operation to facilitate the handling of the heavy Christmas mail, it is expected that every effort will be made to make the necessary installations as soon as possible. The station will be equipped according to government specifications. With a thirty-foot frontage on Regent street and seventy feet on Orpheum alley, ample room will be afforded for the substation. sub-station.
