Such was the message of Justice J. K. Flick of the supreme court of Utah to University of ltuh law students at the first of a series of dinners of the Barristers Bar-risters club of the university last evening at the Commercial club. Plfty student lawyers enjoved a special dinner and a program of music furnished by members of the music department of the university. Besides Justice Krtrk. lean William A. I.eary of the law school and President Lawrenos Tripp o the Bar- : ISterS club spoke. Justieo Prick in his address analyzed the fundamental causes of Ubor QnreSt Ul this country. He declared that the organised or-ganised movements were due to a neglect on the part of the government to provide tribunals before which individuals and smalt groups might plead their rights with rotation to worker and employer. As a result , he said, powerful organ Irat ions have grown up, members of n hkii give up the sacred right of freedom to act and bargain and think as they choose under un-der the law of the land. Justice Prick deplored the fact that members of such an organisation in Salt Lake City had voted to commend the soviet sov-iet form of government and declared that such men knew not w hat they commended. com-mended. 1ean Leary reviewed the progress and growth of the law school of the University and expressed a willingness to cooperate with the young lawyers this year In organizing or-ganizing into a compact club, suggesting a tentative plan to be followed. The club proposes to hold hi -monthly dinners throughout the remainder of the school year at which lawyers will be invited in-vited to speak. A moot court has been c".arted under the direction of Justice Prick, holding session ses-sion once each week In the supreme court chambers at the capltol. |
