JORDAN 8 GRANITE 0 Playing a hard, consistent game, tlie Jordan high won a stubborn contest from their bitter rivals, the Granite high, yesterday yes-terday afternoon on the Granite campus, 8 to 0. After beating the Ogden Tigers last Friday, Fri-day, the Jordan men were out. backed by their entire student body and faculty, lo take tiie same from Granite. The Beet Diggers ehowed good tackling and their i heavy line often opened large holes lor their backs to tear through. Their men were all in good condition and few substitutions substi-tutions were made. The Farmers, on the other hand, seemed to be in poor condition, and by the end of Uie game Coach Halton had practically his entire second-string eleven In, as most of the regulars suffered injuries. These injuries were probably due to tne fact-thai some of the boys have been letting let-ting other activities inierfere with their football practice. Granite received the kiekoff and started out'strong. as in their game with the East, high, but after carrying the ball to Jordan's Jor-dan's twenty-yard line they lost it on a fumble. After recovering the ball. Jordan made several good gains, but they were frequently penalized, either for offside or back field in motion. In the second quarter Granite received the ball on their twenty-yard line wnen Leo Hamilton intercepted a forward pass. Granite was forced to punt and then Bradv and Parks got away for good gains", putting the ball on Granite's one-yard one-yard line. A penalty for Jordan at this point prevented them from making a touchdown, as they had two downs in which to make one yard. Granite hebj and punted out of danger. Jordan s attempt at-tempt at a drop kick was Mocked. Granite received the ball in the second half and by a number of good line plunges carried it to Jordan's twenty-five-yard line, hut lost it on a fumble. Jordan worked two forward passes and brought the ball to Granite's fifteen-yard line. Granite's substitute center, who had been put in on a pass to the punter, threw the ball over his head, giving Jordan a eafetv for two points. , ... In the final quarter Jordan opened with a strong attack and kept the ball in Granite's territory. After the Diggers received re-ceived the ball on Granite's twenty-yard line they worked it over for the only touchdvown, B. Gardner carrying the ball across." T'-e kick at goal was missed. Granite revived a little hope in the last 'e-w minutes, when Cutler got through the Jordan defense for a thirty-yard gain, but it availed the Farmers nothing. Parks and B. Gardner in the back field and Hamilton and Vincent in the line plavor good bail for Jordan, and Captain Donald Green. Cornwall and Gini played the best ball for the Red and Blue.
