Show PEHfffiS ' RUSIIIiJIITIES Believed All Reports Will Be Ready for President Wilson on Friday. CChira-o Tribune Cubic. Copyright.) PARIS, .March 11 The various sub-commissions sub-commissions of the peace conference are bending every energy to finish ami file their reports before President 'Wilson reaches Paris. March S was originally set to make the diplomats and experts speed up, but, owing to the Spa rupture over the delivery of German ships and Lloyd George's revision of the size of the Gcnnan army, it was impossible to complete the findings on time. The American commissioners are optimistic op-timistic in expecting that five points of the preliminary peace military, navy, boundary, reparations and economics eco-nomics will be ready Friday for the president 's examination. The two most important subjects and the most difficult ones are practically ready now the new German frontiers and the amount of reparations Germany must pay. IJanzig is the only point unsettled in defining the new German boundaries, and it is believed the president presi-dent will leave the city to Germany, hut will insist it be a free port for the Poles. Reparations Total Cut. The reparations' tola! was cut to $35,-OUO.ijOO.CUO, $35,-OUO.ijOO.CUO, and may go a little lower, but. the matter is' practically agreed upon. The allotment of German capital warships war-ships is unsettled, but alternative propositions propo-sitions have been agreed upon, so the matter can be quickly decided. The economic terms present more ramifications in dealing with the Germans Ger-mans what treaties for commerce will be allowed them and what kind of business busi-ness thev will be allowed to do. This is the only obstacle confronting the conference, as the various nations have different solutions to offer. The Hotel Grillon believes the Ebert government is weakening daily, and is impressing on the conferees the necessity neces-sity of speed in preparing the preliminary prelimi-nary peace treaty before the government govern-ment fails, at the same time warning that the harsher the terms imposed the gre.-i.ter likelihood of the government's being overthrown. Allies Trump Card. The peace conference favors giving the present German government moral and economic support, but the matter of supporting Kbert, militarily has not yet been brought up officially. The allies' one trump card against the Germans' Ger-mans' ief using the peace terms is that they will withhold food, but the' Germans Ger-mans have started a campaign of propaganda propa-ganda which holds that, regardless of what happens, the world dare not stand by and watch .S0jOO.0(10 people starve. At, the same time, they make the threat-that threat-that they will join hands with the Russian Rus-sian Bolsheviks and overthrow the entire en-tire world if denied food. While the commissions are studying the legal status of seizing the German cables and allotting them to England and France, the American commission is coming to the conclusion it is imperative im-perative that the United States lay and operate its own cables in order to hove .news of the world unhampered and not 'delaved by foreign censors in the future, |
