Show GOVEBOR APPROVES ! PART-TIME SCWj 1 Executive Signs Bill Which Requires Youths to Take Certain Instructions. The part-time school law, which passed the legislature as house biil No. 4, was signed by Governor Bamberger yesterday. The act compels parents and guardians of all children between l'J and IS years uf age to see that the minora attend sehoo! at least 114 hours per year, not less than four hours a week, between S a. in. and H p. m. These school hours are to be 1 considered part of the working hours of all minor children as provided in any federal fed-eral or stale law governing hours uf employment. em-ployment. Incorporated in the measure is a law-similar law-similar to the one, now in effect which requires re-quires that permits to work be taken out by all children of school age-who have to work, liven after a permit to work has been issued only four exceptions are made to the part-time school system: First, if the minor has already completed work in the senior high school; second. If the hours of instruction are given at home; third, if the child is physically or men-tall men-tall v unable to attend such part-time school; fourth, if no such school has been established within two and one-half miles of the child's home. Any of the above reasons for non-attendance must be presented pre-sented to the district board of education and a certificate issued. According to the provisions of house bill No. K; an employer who refuses to let the child go to school or who obstructs the intention of the law shall be guilty of a misdemeanor. In any district, according to the provisions of the act, where there are fifteen or more children available for the part-time schools the board of education educa-tion is required to establish such schools, deriving such funds as are necessary from the state and government education monev.
