"A hard day's work," a perspiring perspir-ing individual remarked after being 1 worsted in his effort to arrive at item J, "Total net income on which normal tax is to ,be calculated (H minus I) (enter as Item M, page 1.)" To lessen the congestion, John Griffin of the local bureau announced an-nounced yesterday that those subject sub-ject to the tax returns may mail their returns instead of appearing persoually. Mr. Griffin said that any return deposited in a postoffice by next Saturday, the final day on which the tax may be paid, will be accepted. In the rush yesterday a money order bought by H. P. Wheeler was left upon tho counter in room 206, but there was no application with it. The order is being held. I |
