Chihuahua state is again excited over developments which have been taking place In Chihuahua Chihua-hua City since last Friday, messengers, who arrived on the delayed train tonight said. General Francisco Murguia openly defied the authority of the federal gov-, ernment, deposed the governor, threw the acting governor in jail and ordered him executed after his loyalty to the central-, government had been questioned, A telegram, sent to President Carranza Friday, questioning Murguia' s loyalty, waa relayed to Murguia at Chihuahua City. He started an investigation which ended at the office of the secretary of state, Ramon Gomez Salas, late Friday. when Gomez Salas was knocked down and beaten with a saber until unconscious. The secretary of state was then ordered placed in the penitentiary awaiting exo- cution on a charge of treason. He was later pardoned by General Murguia and liberated Monday. In ihe meantime Governor Ignaclo En-riquez En-riquez learning of Murguia's actions, officially of-ficially sealed the state palace and left -with his personal staff for the mountains, abandoning the slate government to j.he military. 1 1 |
