Two men were arrested In the canyon last Saturday night by Deputy Sheriffs J. T. Raleigh and Riley M. Beck-stead Beck-stead and they and their automobile load of whisky sent to the county Jail at Salt Lake. The capture was kept secret in the hope that other loads would be caught, but the bootleggers were "tipped off" and the deputies returned yesterday morning from waiting vainly for more automobiles. At the county jail the men were booked as James Morgan and J. Johnson. Both were released on ball. Though Sheriff Corless refused to verify it. the fact became be-came known that Morgan was really Former For-mer Sheriff Butters of Morgan county. Sheriff Corless Is being put to every device de-vice to stop the bringing in of liquor. Dlscovei-y was made that a constant supply was coming from TCvanston by a northern route, that it arrived in Salt Lake from places near-by In fruit and vegetable boxes as part of the toad of produce wagons. The starching of every box in every load of produce was out of question. Sheriff Corless began searching for the main artery of supply that bad been established es-tablished by the bootleggers to evade the guard set upon the regular highways. The road through Lost River is beset with numerous ranch fences' and was thought impracticable for automobile travel, but. Sheriff Corless determined that ho would find out.
