Once more The Tribune desires to warn the voters of the state that tho proposed mines amendment to the constitution con-stitution is not what it is cracked up to be, aud that they should not be fooled into the belief that those who concocted con-cocted it are in possession of the Bum total of information upon the question of taxation. We ask all intelligent and f air-mill dod men and women to read over this production of lawmakers who wanted to do something and did not know how to do it. We ask them to carefully consider tho fact that the joint resolution was rushed through on the last day of the session of tho outgoing out-going legislature, that no hearings worn held, that no opportunity for counsel or objection was allowed and that a majority ma-jority of the members who voted "aye" did so because they were assured as-sured it was all right, that more revenue rev-enue was needed by the state and that a fine opportunity to place tho burden upon the mining industry had presented itself. .Tho passago of tbo resolution upon the last, day of tho session and under such remarkable circumstances can I jo explained in no other manner. So wo claim the right to advisn the voters that the amendment itself is vicious and if curried will be a. violation viola-tion of the constitutional rights of many individuals and work the destruction de-struction of one of the state's greatest Industries', It should be voted down nd will bo unless the state is drifting in Ihe direction of Socialism. |
