Prolonged litigation is anticipated over the estate of Frank GooVl. valued at several million, in the divorce suits brought by Gould and Ms wife. The French laws forbid the divulgeiice of details of evidence in divorce actions, but persistent report has it that statutory statu-tory grounds are alleged by both. It is expected a protracted battle will be fought over the property, before the main divorce di-vorce action comes to be tried. Preliminary pleadings were heard privately pri-vately by a referee at Versailles last Friday. Fri-day. A decision Is looked for next week regarding the disposition of the Gould property,. which Mrs. Gould Has attached, claiming one-half. His decision is expected expect-ed to open the legal battle. The couple were married in Edinburgh on October 29, 1909. Early last Mny they separated after ; violent quarrel, after which Mrs. Gould went to live separately in Paris. Last August the double divorce di-vorce action was begun before a civil tribunal at Versailles. Since then the couple have been living at a country house called Maisons la Fltte. Mrs. Gould was allowed temporary alimony amounting to 3000 francs ($600) a month. She appealed ap-pealed from this decision, claiming a much larger sum as her due. En tle meantime Goild seeks the release re-lease of his property from attachment, claiming that he was married under American laws, without community of property. Mrs. Gould, on tho other hand, asserts that her French domocfle rights glvo l.er one -half of the estate. Mrs. Gould is represented by French lawyers, while Charles Glrsqn Iocb is attorney at-torney for her husband. |
