Show RELIEF WORKERS RUSH TO IRELAND TO AID SURVIVORS LONDON, Feb. 7. News of the sinking oT the Tuscania reached the American military authorities i here Wednesday morning. Additional machinery for relief work immediately was put iYito action and several score officials of the American armv and navy left here during the day for Ireland. Vice Admiral William Sims, commander of the American destroyer squadron In European waters, who now is in Rome for a few days, was notified bv telegram of the disaster. The night boat train, which goes direct di-rect to the port where the majority of the survivors was landed, was crowded to overflowing. The passengers included many American Red Cross workers, representatives rep-resentatives of the Y. M. C. A. and a large number of military and naval men. A correspondent of the Associated Press, traveling on this train, found every seat taken a half hour before leaving time and a number of passengers standing in the aisles for the all-night trip. |
