Preference iu the furnishing of ears and movement of ears for handling -rain anil grain products must be given iv railroads throughout the country, iu accordance with a general order that has been issued by Director General McAdoo of railroads, a copy of which has been received here. Yesterday H. V. Piatt, vice president presi-dent and general manager of the Oregon Ore-gon Short Line, received notice of the issuance of the order, which reads as follows: On account of the vital necessity of gathering and forwarding immediately im-mediately all available grain and grain products for our armies aud allies abroad, you will, for the present. pres-ent. giv0 preference and priority in furnishing box ears for grain" and grain products in the states of Illinois. Minnesota, .Montana, Missouri. Mis-souri. Iowa, North Dakota. Nebraska, Ne-braska, Oklahoma. Wisconsin. South Dakota, Kansas, with the exception of less than carload merchandise, mer-chandise, print pauer anil paper pulp. The regional director of eastern railroads has been instruct- ed to rush empty box ears to western west-ern lines in preference. Please secure se-cure the i-o-operation of grain dealers, farmers and interested communities to facilitate accumulation accumu-lation and prompt loading of all kinds of grain. Have traffic representatives rep-resentatives and station agents aid in this work. Supplementing this.
