Show OPERA HOUSE BURNS AT BRIGHAM CITY Origin of Fire Is Unknown; Building Unused for a Lone Period; No Cauao for Incendiarism. Special to The Tribun. BRIGHAM. Utah, Nov. IS. At noon today lire destroyed the opera house in this city. Th: fire had its origin on the sUiko and toon spread to the roof. The entire rear end of the build ins:, including includ-ing tli stage, dance hall entrance and basement and boiler room was burned out, but firemen mannped to save the main part of the building. The building had not been uped for a long time and the origin of the fire is yet a mystery. There is no apparent reason for incendiarism. incen-diarism. The property w;is valued at H0,0on and carried $4000 insurance. With the destruction of the old opera house phsrps another landmark in Brig-ham's Brig-ham's history. The building was erected in IMjS by the church as an amusement hall, the people being assessed for that purpose. In 1S78 the old co-op occupied the building for its mercantile business. L'pon the completion of the company's new building in l9u tbe opera house was remodeled a t considerable cost. Tho building t11 into the hands of J. V. Rich, now of Salt Iake. A few years later the Third ward, under the administration administra-tion of L. N. Stopl, as bishop, purchased the opera house tor $400 and a short time later sold a one-fourth Interest to each of the other three wards.
