With tomorrow the last day of the campaign of the Young Men's Christian association $o5,-000,000 $o5,-000,000 war work fund, the war council sent out today a final appeal for 'the success of the drive. To show the urgent ur-gent need of money for welfare work among the soldiers of the UnlLed States righting in France this cable message from F. C. Carter, national secretary of the American Y. M. C. A. In France, was made punlic tonight: "1 have just returned from visiting Americans in front line trenches. Their spirit is inspiring: their apprecia tion of associations already being operated under un-der shell fire is unbounded. At the same time the principal criticism on . every 'hand is that the American association m France is still inadequately furnished with men, money, supplies and transport.
